PROJECT RATIONALE
In the recent years, the number of livestock in the country is increasing dramatically. According to the Umnugobi aimag statistics, the number of livestock increased by 1 million for the last 5 years and reached 2.6 million at the end of 2017. Due to this context, there are issues such as over grazing, increasing number of animal infectious diseases, poor livestock breeds that leads to less productivity which results in poor quality of livestock products.
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
In Khanbogd soum center, animal health center building was built with a 4 - Car garage, 4 - Employee housing building, animal shelter, fence and other equipment and facilities such as 133 types of laboratory equipment and office furniture.
PROJECT BENEFIT
- 1554 herder households in Khanbogd, Bayan-Ovoo, Manlai and Tsogttsetsii soums, as well as the neighboring aimag herders will have an access to veterinary services
- Herders' knowledge and skills on livestock health and quality will be imporved and livestock herding management will be improved as a whole.
- Awareness on food security will be raised
- The center will provide veterinary, breeding and laboratory services for the improvemnet of animal health and quality in 4 eastern soums of Umnugobi aimag
- It will save costs to build an animal health center in each 4 soums
- Veterinary services will be improved
- 4-5 jobs will be created in Khanbogd soum
